It seems to be working just fine one day, then the next time I NEED to scan something, it pops up THIS message: "HP Officejet Pro 8610 is currently unavailable. I’ve had my HP “do everything” super printer for a couple of years now - going on 3 actually but ever since I had to get a new lap top and switch from a MacBook Pro to a MacBook Air, well, the scanner is just totally FICKLE. This is a productivity time saver! Kudos !! It will save me a lot of work back when I used to scan to a USB drive, switch it to my computer, and search HP_Scan directory and hope my document appeared. Thanks HP for a great, AND FREE, scan App. I went to my computer' scan folder and there each document had been saved to a separate jpeg. Delighted, I stacked several documents on my printers from feed and each document was scanned. Ive owned a HP Officejet Pro 8620 for about 2 years now. The Easy Scan App reappeared and when the scan completed and displayed in the App, I clicked on "Send" which opened a save window where I selected a Folder for storing all future scans. HP has come along way with their products and the software that runs them. Once completed, a document that I had previously placed on my printer started being scanned. Try scanning using Image Capture (Image Capture works better with Mac OS X 10.I downloaded HP Easy Scan to my new iMac Pro and once the download completed and the App opened, I went to devices on my computer and clicked on my office 'HP OfficeJet Pro 8600' Icon - immediately my computer started downloading a new print driver file. Go to System Preferences and access Printers & ScannersĪccess your HD's Library and delete all HP related files & folders under this folderĪdd the Printer on the Printers & Scanners window Open Activity Monitor and quit all HP related processes Uninstall the HP Software by running HP Uninstaller Please try these steps and we'll call you for another follow-up on the case: I have also been in touch with HP support, they recommended the followig, which also did not work: This is an issue with the HP 2.16.1 update.

I am not going through another install process. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update. The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/IOFireWireWDHID.kext” was installed improperly and cannot be used. So, I have a really nice MBP and a really nice HP 8600 Plus, but I can't scan effectively.Īnother issue: While installing the HP Mavericks software the follow error popped up:

HP wanted me to ask Apple why Scan Sharing didn't exist any more in System Preferences. The scanner will scan to a USB stick also. The printer part works just fine by the way. Finally, it occured to me to try the USB and it scanned, but only with Image Capture and not HP Scan.

I went through 3 levels of tech help to no avail. A: Answer The HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and Premium have the sames speed but is faster than the HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One (eAIO). The printer/scanner wouldn't scan with HP Scan nor with Image Capture. They had me startup and shutdown my MBP several times, doing the same with my printer/scanner and my AirPort Extreme. I spent a good chunk of today with HP trying to figure out why my brand new HP OfficeJet 8600 Plus wouldn't scan with Mavericks.
